Visions of Sugarplums

'Twas two nights before Christmas
when all through the home,
Not a moment was wasted,
not even a one.

All rollers and curling irons
were heated and whirling,
for long locks needed styling,
and spraying and curling.

The restaurant was ready
and waiting with glee,
waiting you say?
Oh yes... waiting on me.

The dress had been donned,
the pearls had been fastened...
But the Rainbow Lodge was hiding,
though earnestly we hastened...

The duck and the lamb
quite tasty and tender,
followed by bread pudding
soaked in rum and wonder.

The Nutcracker was starting,
with or without us!
Alas we arrived, sprinting and stumbling.
We found our seats - the ballet or bust!

One last challenge had yet to befall us,
the Jetta was lost, but hear her we did...
Find Helga! We shouted...
Poor lost Helga... Where had she hid?

The car was found and the evening had passed,
but memories keep going, they surely won't flee.
For our first Christmas was perfect...
Perfect indeed.
